FEJS is a network dedicated to the exchange of journalism students, young professionals and citizens interested in the field.

Acceptance Letters are out – see you in Porto!

Local journalism is present in our lives in an almost hidden way. It is often not as valued as other forms of journalism considered more “noble”, such as investigative journalism or international reporting. However, it is essential for informing citizens about the true reality that surrounds them, which can be hidden behind smiles in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

At the 2025 General Assembly, Porto will show the FEJS the importance of local journalism, with its specific characteristics. The goal is, essentially, to make us more attentive journalists, to invite you to look around on the bus, on the subway, at school, at work. To see and listen, explore, expand.

Essentially, what we want is to zoom in on what we leave off the radar. It may surprise you.

“It was decided on that Sunday that there should not be a formal organisation, but an informal one. Each year one school would be the host for the annual meeting. The school would be responsible for the programme, etc. We did it that way, because I have had some experiences in international youth-work and saw what bureaucracy could do for an organisation.”Theo Dersjant, Founder of FEJS International
